The Battle is On- Pastor O'neal Dozier's Fight

Pastor O'neal Dozier is making a stand in Pompano Beach . FL. His stand has put him on the other side of his friend Gov. Jeb Bush and has forced him to resign from the Broward County Judicial Nominating committee. So what has caused the split and the resignation? Dozier's open stand against a mosque's being built in his neighborhood and related statements. Dozier has openly called Islam a "Cult" and has stated that the mosque poses a terror threat, in that it may be used as a recruiting and training facility for Muslim extremists targeting young and poor black men. Finally, a man of God willing to take a public stand and pay the price. Who is with him? http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/15009592.htm

While I agree with pastor Dozier in principle the matter is not as cut and dry as it appears. This is afterall America, and the right of freedom of religion and expression are sacred to us, or have been. By itself I have no problem with anyone building a mosque, synagogue or church anywhere. What the news does not properly convey, however, is that one main reason Pastor Dozier and others in this community are opposed to the building of a mosque in this neighborhood is that there are no Muslims whatsoever living there. There appears to be no regard for community consideration. Imagine if the mosque were to have been proposed in an all white suburban community? Do you think the permission would be given? I do not think so. In fact, recently Christian churches are finding it difficult to get permits in many suburban areas. So, this is a dilema, and one that bears watching. But I applaud pastor Dozier for bering willing to take a stand in a battle that is sure to be a difficult one to win unless he gets full communiy support.

Interesting.

I live in Ohio which is home to one of the largest mosques in the country and sits right in the middle of a community that is about 95% white and non-muslim. So, I wonder why these mosque are popping up in non-muslim areas.

I would like to see the mosque plans be denied...then again...as you said...this is America and their is freedom of religion.

However, considering the state of the world and especially the United States and our war with terrorism...I think its insane to allow a mosque to be built in ANY neighborhood.

What our leaders fail to recognize...or at least publically admit...is that we are in a religious war. They fail to admit that its not Islam-facists terrorizing the world...but it is ISLAM. If we/they allow the building of this mosque...they are enabling the enemy for the sake of appearing politically correct.

When all the terrorists being arrested are muslims...we should seriously consider the entire "religion" an enemy...until proved wrong...which we won't be.

Anyway...I got off topic...but I say freedom of religion does not apply here...we are at war...and sad to say...but all Islam is the enemy.

Kooz,

While my sentiment is with you, I do not feel we can restrict the building of or gathering of any religion or their house of worship. On the other hand, it would not be a violation if there is a local ordinance setting guidelines with regard to the building of such places based upon a need. In otherwords, what is the makeup of the community?

By the way, Ed, this would not violate the constitution as the 1st Ammendment states, "the Congress shall...." Since this zoing does not involved congress it does not involve the constitution.

I received Jesus "The Christ" as my lord and savior at the World Wide Christian Center in 1992 when it was a storefront church in Collier City. I will always love Pastor Dozier because it was his words sent by God which opened my heart and touched my spirit.
I cannot however support this opposition to a Mosque being built anywhere in America, because so many Americans have put their lives on the line for everyone to be able to practice their religion freely without restriction.
I feel that Pastor Dozier has fallen for the Republican line of stuff simply because they claim to stand for Jesus.
Jesus loved the poor, the republicans love to keep us poor.
If the President were such a Godly man, who claims that Jesus is his role model, then why is it everytime the President signs a piece of paper people die.Either at war or because he let's the oil industry write our environmental and energy legislation, and because he lets the pharmaceutical companies write our healthcare legislation.
The war in Iraq costs 11 million dollars an hour, a great percentage of that is to the contractors who were awarded contracts because of their contributions to the G.O.P.And still these contractors don't have the infrastructure of Iraq up and running.
Pastor Dozier is afraid of Islam because of something that Islam has accomplished in the African -American community that Christianity has failed to do.Gets and keeps black men out of prison and off of drugs. It has young Black men being proud of the independent, well-mannered,employed , well spoken man in the mirror who is no longer content to be from the Motissa ( mo tea suh?) tribe of hand picked Republican "house niggers".
Why did it take the 82nd airborne 2 days to get to and be set up in Sri Lanka after the Tsunami, but it took the Feds 5 days to realize that the people they claim to be sworn to protect "Americans" were in the Gulf states dying from "benign neglect".
There is a special place in hell waiting for them.
My God is merciful and will let little Muslim,Hebrew,Buddhist and other non -Christian children who are not allowed to know Jesus into heaven.
There is no god Greater than Jehovah

Anonymous,

You missed the entire point of Rev. Dozier's fight. You are so full of Bushitis that you cannot even see straight.

there was nothing about Pres. Bush or the GOP in this story. It is a local issue about the fact that Muslims from outside the community are wanting to build a Mosque in this community even though there are no Muslims living there.

Try that in the white suburbs. there would be hell to pay if the city council tried that. Not gonna happen. They think they can put it among "Niggers" and no one will care. Dozier is saying "wrong!!"

Speaking of tollerance, try building a new church in Iran, Saudi Arabia, or anywhere in the Muslim world and see how far you get. After they burn it down, they wicl cut off your head.

Has anyone who commented on this blog read about Islam? or knows any Muslims? The mosque they are currently worshiping in is just a few miles away. They are moving to this location probably because they were able to find a bigger space for a reasonable price. Muslims just want to pray in peace. This isn't a religious war. Wake UP!! Look at your GAS prices. Look at the fact that VP Cheney's former company won the contract for the "reconstruction" in Iraq.. This war is about a lot of things and religion isn't one of them. Before you speak about Muslims or Islam READ about the religion and no not some manifesto--actually read their text!

I would like to address you all as a Muslim. The American Muslim community does have extremists in our midst, however one must recognise that the vast majority of American Muslims are law abiding, men and women who are concerned with raising our families, educating our children, instilling a sense of social justice, working hard to live a better life.

If beacuse I'm a black Muslim other black men and women are likley to view me as a terrorist without having spoken a single word to me; I feel we as a people have learned very little.

Secondly as an article in the Economist recently pointed out Muslims in the west are less concerned with bringing people to our faith then is generally perceived. The Most you would see from Muslims is an inocuous small stand on a street corner offering free publications, and even that is rare.

Infact most people who become Muslim do so, like myself having read up on, and have come to an understanding of Islam on their own.

Finally Muslims don't live in one community we often have to communte great distances to gather together. We try to keep a low profile because we are aware we are all viewed by many as being a dark force in society. I know that in PA we did build and extend an Islamic centre in a all white town, not a single person was converted in fact we helped redevelop and bring a better level of prosperity after the steel mill collapse. However most Muslims have now left to better school districts and we are closing down the old centre, the irony is that the people who were once so suspicious are sad to see us go.

If it walks talks and acts like a terrorist but wears constitutional clothng it must be ... left alone? Pastor Dozier sees the mosque for all the things it is. Recall that the Al Quaida leadership has said they will use our laws and constitutional rights against us, and that anything is just when used to advance the Muslim jihad. O'Neal Dozier is probably fighting a battle that he will lose and he will probably be villified for the stand he is taking to defend his country. I, however, will call him a patriot. Stay strong and keep the faith brother Dozier.

Dr. Dozier is one of those rare individuals who not only see the truth, but are brave enough to speak it.

Although one cannot say that any specific Muslim is a good or bad person, one can say ...

Islam is perverse

Islam is violent It's radical adherents are responsible for most of the violence on the planet today.

In the words of a Saudi Chief Justice, ...
"And you will not find any organization past or present, religious or nonreligious as regards (Jihad and military) (ordering) the whole nation to march forth and mobilize all of them. into active military service as a single row for Jihad ..., as you will find in the Islamic Religion and its teachings."

In other words, they are hell-bent on world domination. Before 9/11 you could find this kind of pig vomit either directly on any Muslim website or from their links.

Read it yourself

Radical Islam is the new Nazism.

Watch, and learn. "Fitna" is just the appetizer compared to this main course.

Don't get me wront. Muslims are NOT all evil. If they were, things would be far worse than they are. There are many decent ones. But the "religion" they practice selects for and encourages the worst. In fact, I would say that the decent Muslims deserve a great deal of credit, if for no other reason than remaining decent IN SPITE OF Islam, but certainly not because of it.

Dozier is, unfortunately, all too correct, and all too alone.
